The acclaimed photographer and observer of modern life, Annie Liebowitz, is coming to Dallas for a talk and a presentation of some of the pieces that make up her new book, Annie Leibovitz: Portraits 2005-2016! Leibovitz first shot into the public sphere taking photographs for The Rolling Stone, and is one of the most prolific contributors to both Vogue and Vanity Fair. Her photographs are composed and candid in equal measure, always revealing something intimate about her subjects while placing them in painterly compositions that show them as makers of modern mythology. The collection on display includes portraits of Cate Blanchett, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Gloria Steinem, Rihanna, Meryl Streep, Zaha Hadid, Anna Wintour, Leonard Cohen, Jasper Johns, Caitlyn Jenner, LeBron James, Jeff Koons, Joan Didion, Barack Obama, Queen Elizabeth II and many, many more. Old Crow Medicine Show are one of Americana’s most beloved bands; if you’ve been to a party with a guitar in the last ten years, chances are you’ve heard their hit “Wagon Wheel,” a classic sing-along from the moment it was released. What you might not know, though, is that Bob Dylan is credited as a co-writer on that song! Lead singer of OCMS, Ketch Secor, added verses to an unfinished song by Dylan and crafted a brand new hit.
