If you’re visiting Texas, you owe it to yourself and to Texas to visit a rodeo – and I can’t think of a better opportunity than at the Rodeo Cowboys Association’s weekly rodeos in Fort Worth on January 23-28. It’s a bit of a drive from Dallas, but it’s worth it when you see the best of the best roping and riding at the height of their games. If you’ve never been, you’re missing out on the thunderous excitement of the crowd, or the edge of your seat tension as a rider aims for that eight seconds on the back of a bucking bronc. Michigan born singer Garrett Clark Borns is the best thing to happen to 70s rock since the 70s. Going by the styled name of BØRNS, he channels the sleek sensuality of singers like Robert Plant, Freddie Mercury David Bowie, and maybe most tellingly, T-Rex’s Marc Bolan, while writing truly infectious pop songs that channel yesteryear while making you happy to alive NOW.
