PAUL SIMON: HOMEWARD BOUND TOUR

“I’m standing in this railway station, got a ticket for my destination, mmmm

On a tour of one night stands, my suitcase and guitar in hand

And every stop is neatly planned for a poet and a one man band”

Paul Simon needs no introduction. He is one of the most storied songwriters in the world with a career that has spanned multiple styles over decades of critical acclaim, and on June 1 he will be playing at America Airlines Center on his Homeward Bound tour as part of his FINAL TOUR EVER!

If you’ve ever loved a Paul Simon song (and who among us hasn’t?), then this is your last chance EVER to see this living legend do what he does best. See hits like “Cecilia,” “Mrs. Robinson,” “The Boy in The Bubble” and “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover” LIVE for the very last time. Tickets available here.

Visiting Dallas? Good idea! Here are some upcoming events that prove it’s always a great time to visit Texas!

FORT WORTH RODEO

If you’re visiting Texas, you owe it to yourself and to Texas to visit a rodeo – and I can’t think of a better opportunity than at the Rodeo Cowboys Association’s weekly rodeos in Fort Worth on January 23-28. It’s a bit of a drive from Dallas, but it’s worth it when you see the best of the best roping and riding at the height of their games. If you’ve never been, you’re missing out on the thunderous excitement of the crowd, or the edge of your seat tension as a rider aims for that eight seconds on the back of a bucking bronc. Full schedule available here.

GODFREY

If you don’t know him, Godfrey is one of the funniest people in America. He brings an easy charm to the stage and talks about both the ridiculousness of everyday life and important topics like race and injustice with the same, unflappable sense of humor that finds the funny in everything. He’s a master performer and a must-see at the Addison improve on February 1. Tickets are available here.

BØRNS

Michigan born singer Garrett Clark Borns is the best thing to happen to 70s rock since the 70s. Going by the styled name of BØRNS, he channels the sleek sensuality of singers like Robert Plant, Freddie Mercury David Bowie, and maybe most tellingly, T-Rex’s Marc Bolan, while writing truly infectious pop songs that channel yesteryear while making you happy to alive NOW. He’s playing at the House of Blues on February 1 – don’t miss out on this electrifying young singer!

When staying in Dallas, save by staying in nearby Duncanville. Here at the Best Western Plus Duncanville/Dallas, we aim to give you world-class luxury in a Texas style. Book your room today!

ANNIE LEIBOVITZ

The acclaimed photographer and observer of modern life, Annie Liebowitz, is coming to Dallas for a talk and a presentation of some of the pieces that make up her new book, Annie Leibovitz: Portraits 2005-2016! Come to the McFarlin Memorial Auditorium at SMU this November 14 for what is sure to be a fascinating glimpse into the mind of one of America’s most influential artists.

Leibovitz first shot into the public sphere taking photographs for The Rolling Stone, and is one of the most prolific contributors to both Vogue and Vanity Fair. Her photographs are composed and candid in equal measure, always revealing something intimate about her subjects while placing them in painterly compositions that show them as makers of modern mythology. The collection on display includes portraits of Cate Blanchett, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Gloria Steinem, Rihanna, Meryl Streep, Zaha Hadid, Anna Wintour, Leonard Cohen, Jasper Johns, Caitlyn Jenner, LeBron James, Jeff Koons, Joan Didion, Barack Obama, Queen Elizabeth II and many, many more. Don’t miss out.

OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW PERFORM BLONDE ON BLONDE

Old Crow Medicine Show are one of Americana’s most beloved bands; if you’ve been to a party with a guitar in the last ten years, chances are you’ve heard their hit “Wagon Wheel,” a classic sing-along from the moment it was released. What you might not know, though, is that Bob Dylan is credited as a co-writer on that song! Lead singer of OCMS, Ketch Secor, added verses to an unfinished song by Dylan and crafted a brand new hit. In that way, OCMS have been gifted interpreters of Dylan their whole careers!

On November 14 at Winspear Opera House, Old Crow Medicine Show will perform the entirety of Dylan’s classic album, Blonde on Blonde. Come see some of American’s most gifted performers play the work of one of our most gifted songwriters.
