Instead of rushing around, plan a holiday where you can knock off some errands all at once. Whether you’re shopping for gifts or for yourself, check out these unique events in Dallas where you can shop for holiday gifts and have a great time doing it!
Duncanville Holiday Craft Bazaar | November 2
If you’re keen on getting your holiday shopping done early, be sure to check out the Holiday Craft Bazaar hosted by Duncanville’s First Christian Church. From 9 am to 4 pm, you can browse the best of our local vendors, bid on awesome raffle baskets, and get lots of tasty homemade baked goods, all while supporting our great local community!
Chi Omega Christmas Market | November 20-23
The Chi Omega Christmas market has all the holiday shopping you want without the crazy crowds at the mall! This beloved annual event has over 220 merchants showcasing gifts of all kinds including holiday decor, women’s apparel, home accessories, children’s toys, tasty treats, and more. General admission starts at just $12, with proceeds donated back to the Dallas community through grants to local charities and college scholarships. There’s nothing like getting in the holiday spirit through giving back while giving gifts!
DWE Annual Holiday Women’s Expo | December 7
This expo is all about the Dallas Women Entrepreneurs! On December 7th, head to the Sheraton Dallas Hotel by the Galleria for a day of shopping, networking, and supporting women entrepreneurs in our community. You can shop for unique beauty and fashion products, health and wellness products, and other awesome goods offered by our talented vendors. You can also treat yourself with free reiki treatments, stress relief sessions, spa facials, and more. Plus, if you’re an entrepreneur or aspiring business owner yourself, you’ll get a chance to speak to the vendors throughout the show and network during happy hour (which includes cocktails!). Admission is free, so why not check out this awesome event?
There are so many ways to get your holiday shopping done in Duncanville — without fighting the crowds at the mall. You can have a blast, find original gifts, and give back to small business owners in the community all at the same time! And when your feet are worn out from a long day of shopping and browsing, you can head back to your cozy room at Best Western Plus Duncanville and enjoy our great amenities, such as our pool, outdoor hot tub with whirlpool jets, and fitness centre. Happy shopping!

The Texas heat can make anyone feel lethargic and sloth like. Well, get out there and move! Nothing better than to get out there, start moving, and enjoy the heat and sun. You’ll, for sure, be saying this when the winter months come. Certainly movement doesn’t have to be rigorous (while it is highly encouraged), your movement can be any pace you want. Here are two events to elaborate on that.
Boot Camp and Brunch
Yeah, you read that right-- and yes, it is in that order, and for good reason, too! Boot Camp and Brunch is brought to you by Heat to Toe Fitness. If you’re looking for a jumpstart to your day then head on over to Head to Toe Fitness by 10:40 AM! At 11:00 AM sharp you’ll be lead through a bootcamp, then once you’ve cooled down you’ll be introduced to healthy options until your brunch is served!
Medieval Times
You also read that one right! Medieval times are coming (back) to Texas. This fun family event is actually a show, which means you likely won’t be getting your hands on a sword or wearing chain mail. This is a sit down (no movement for you) type of event, but you can still enjoy with the family and speculate what it might have been like back in medieval times. Medieval Times occurs on Saturday, August 17, 2019. Tickets are $50 per head and show starts at 2:00 PM. This is one thing you won’t want to miss.

What better way is there to explore a new city than through its food? As we’re sure you know, us Texans sure love our food and Dallas is no exception. Next time you come to Dallas, see (and taste!) the city in a new way with a unique culinary tour. Here are some of our food-centric tour suggestions below:
Calling all of those with a mighty sweet tooth! If you love chocolate, have we got a tour for you. Dallas by Chocolate is an award-winning tour company that specializes in - you guessed it - chocolate-focused tours of the city. You’ll get to explore multiple neighbourhoods by coach, stopping to sample tasty treats at some of the city’s finest chocolate-makers, ice cream shops, and other confectionary destination spots. Be sure to book in advance, as tours are known to sell out fast!
A history buff’s gotta eat! The JFK tour by Food Tours of America is a two-part tour perfect for those who want to learn about the history of the city and also explore its culinary scene. 2019 marks 55 years since the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas. You’ll begin this walking tour at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza and see historically significant spots such as the assassination site and the sniper’s perch. After 45 minutes of this guided tour focused on JFK, you’ll transition into the second part of your tour in Uptown Dallas. This latter part of the tour features sit-down restaurant tastings and dessert tastings in the West Village, all narrated by a knowledgeable guide who will give you the inside scoop on Dallas’ best spots for dining, shopping, and more.
Everyone knows that Texas has some of the best Mexican food in the nation. The Dallas Bites! Food Tours company was previously awarded Dallas' Best Tacos & Margaritas Tour by the Dallas Observer. On this taco-sampling adventure, you’ll get to try a diverse range of the Mexican favorite, including classic tacos, ones featuring unique twists, and national award-winners. Of course, a day of tacos is nothing without a tasty margarita, and there will be multiple of those to sample during the tour.
Our hotel in Duncanville is just 15 minutes outside of downtown Dallas, and offers great amenities like free parking, free breakfast, and a pool. And with these amazing food tours, you’ll get to feel like you’ve properly explored the city of Dallas without spending a fortune on a pricey downtown hotel, so you can go back to your favourite restaurant on the tour and ask for seconds.

The beginning of the year is often when emotions are at their height. And by height, this means, there are just so many emotional things going on that it feels like a rollercoaster. From a new year, seeing family the one time you do each year, seeing old friends, and the gusto that comes with starting something new every year. Here’s two ways to expedite that cathartic experience:
Copeland
Copeland. The band started out in 2001 in Lakeland, Florida, and they’ve gained traction since. While they’re not always walking the Hollywood red carpets, they still make an emotional impact for many of their listeners. Their alternative-rock style mixed with beautiful lyrics will surely get your right in the feels. Join them live on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Curtain Club. Doors at 7 PM and tickets are $23.
Bridal Expo 2019
So, maybe listening to music that evokes a deep emotional response isn’t exactly something you’re looking to do. And maybe you are looking for something more exciting and heartwarming. Well, the DFW Bridal Expo 2019 is back. This free event will surely inspire you to take a look at the newest, latest, and greatest wedding themes to come for 2019. And if you are in the market to do some bridal shopping yourself, well don’t worry: many vendors, event planners, cakes, and other decor will be there! This is your one stop shop for all your wedding needs.

With Copeland visiting Dallas, and the Bridal Expo further south in DeSoto, why not stay at our wonderful accommodations at Best Western Plus Duncanville? Whether you’re travelling for business, or you’re looking for a place that serves a hot breakfast, we’ve got your covered.
